Morphology

Of sturdy and compact constitution, the Polish Tatra Sheepdog is a strongly built animal. Its long and massive body, straight and wide back, and muscular forelegs express both power and mobility, without excessive mass. In addition to these physical assets, it has webbed paws, making it an excellent swimmer.

Its sharp gaze and gleaming black eyes reflect a keen intelligence and boldness.

The gentle-looking Tatra Sheepdog measures 60 to 65 cm for the female and 65 to 70 cm for the male, and weighs 40 to 68 kg depending on gender.

Its long, dense, straight or slightly wavy, woolly hair creates a thick mane on the neck and a bushy tail. Its uniformly white coat is lined with a very dense undercoat that provides protection against the harsh weather of its native mountains and makes the dog well suited to withstand the temperature extremes in our climate.
